Meet Kim

Kim Farington is a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate from Virginia with a deep background in federal financial management, small business leadership, and public service. She lives in Fairfax Station with her husband Dave, a retired Navy Captain. Raised in Ohio, Kim began working at 15 and put herself through college by attending night classes while holding full-time jobs. She earned an associate degree from Excelsior College, a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, and became a CPA in 2006.

Kim spent over 30 years working inside the federal government, where she led major financial reforms, cut waste, and saved taxpayers billions of dollars. Her roles included serving as chief accountant at the Office of Personnel Management, associate CFO at the Department of Agriculture, and CFO of the First Responder Network (FirstNet Authority), a public-private broadband network for first responders at the Department of Commerce. She also worked at the White House Office of Management and Budget, where she oversaw financial management policy for the entire federal government.

After retiring from federal service, Kim founded KTECH, a small business specializing in financial management and cybersecurity contracting. She also holds patents for an American-made USB storage case that she designed and marketed to over 200 major retailers.

Kim remains active in local business and civic organizations, including the Tower Club in Tysons and the University Club of Washington, D.C. She is motivated by a desire to make government more efficient, support small businesses, and defend the rights and safety of women and girls. Kim’s life reflects a consistent commitment to hard work, problem-solving, and public service, shaped by personal experiences that drive her to challenge the status quo in Washington.
